About InterContinental Brisbane
InterContinental Brisbane opened on 1 July 2025, marking the brand’s debut in Brisbane and bringing a new level of luxury conference and events accommodation to the CBD. Located at 190 Elizabeth Street, the hotel sits in the heart of the city with Queen Street Mall directly behind it and easy access to Brisbane’s major transport hubs.
With 2,500 square metres of event space across 15 dedicated function rooms, the hotel handles everything from intimate boardroom meetings to gala dinners and awards nights for up to 1,000 guests. It’s already establishing itself as one of Brisbane’s premier conference hotel venues.
Event Photos Australia has a long history photographing events at this address and knows the spaces well. If you’re planning an event at InterContinental Brisbane, we’d love to be your photographer.

The building before it was the InterContinental
Before July 2025 this address was the Hilton Brisbane, and we were photographing events in these rooms long before the rebrand. The hotel is new. The building, the ballroom and the way light behaves in it are not.
One that stays with us is the Queensland Law Society Specialist Accreditation breakfast, where the Board welcomed its graduates into the specialist accreditation community alongside the Chief Justice. The theming was deliberately restrained, which meant the brief was about the room rather than the decoration: the setup, where the banners sat, the table centrepieces, all of it needed as reference for the following year's event.
The part worth describing is the group photograph. Formalities finished on stage and the client asked for the recipients together with the president. We put a lighting setup together there and then and arranged the chairs for the space we had, rather than moving everyone somewhere easier and losing the room behind them. The recipients then went to the media wall for photographs with family, lit again rather than left to the house lighting.
That is the difference between knowing a venue and having read about it. We have worked this building under two names, and the rooms have not changed.
