Brisbane City Hall Event Photography

Brisbane City Hall is one of Queensland’s most significant heritage and cultural icons and hosts some of Brisbane’s most grandeur events. Since its opening in 1930, it has been a symbol of civic pride and one of Brisbane’s greatest icons.

As you enter the foyer the grandness of the marble staircases and the vaulted ceilings, chandeliers, and mosaic tiled floors are sure to impress your guests.

Things we’ve learnt at Brisbane City Hall

Every venue, no matter where you are in the world has its pros and cons. Whether it be a quirky layout or terrible lighting with low ceilings, it’s all part of the job to work with what we walk into and the Brisbane City Hall is no different.

With it’s great CBD location and easy access to public transport, parking and accommodation it’s no wonder this venue is a great place to hold any event. When holding a large crowd though, the welcome reception is usually held outside in King George Square (weather permitting) and if your guests need to register then this can cause a bottle neck in the foyer entrance.

With the ability to hold 800 guests in a banquet style (without a dance floor), however an event with smaller number of tables the room can swallow the event and make the room look quiet empty.

The overseeing balcony gives a great vantage point and a unique angle on your event photographs as a whole.

The stage is quiet unique and sits nearly 2 metres above the ground level where guests are seated. Great for performances and acts but not so much for awards nights and presentations where a majority of angles would be from below. If you’re thinking about a group photo on stage – consider a second photographer to be positioned on the balcony.
