Location of Crown Melbourne

Crown Melbourne is located at 8 Whiteman Street, Southbank – on the south bank of the Yarra River, directly opposite the Melbourne CBD. It’s around a 10-15 minute walk from the city centre, or a short tram or taxi ride from most Melbourne accommodation.

Crown Melbourne has over a dozen event spaces covering everything from the 2,300-guest Palladium down to private dining rooms and boardrooms.

The Palladium
Australia’s largest pillarless ballroom and Crown Melbourne’s flagship event space. Seats up to 1,300 guests for a gala dinner and holds up to 2,300 standing. Fully reconfigurable and described as one of the most technologically advanced event venues in the country. Regular home of the AFL Brownlow Medal and Allan Border Medal.

Crown Conference Centre
A purpose-built conference facility suited to residential conferences, seminars, product launches and exhibitions. Well equipped for multi-day events with breakout requirements.

Crown Aviary
A rooftop space with landscaped gardens and unobstructed views over the Melbourne CBD skyline. Holds up to 550 guests. Popular for cocktail events, product launches and end-of-year functions.

Garden Rooms
Floor-to-ceiling windows with Melbourne skyline views. Well suited to breakfast presentations, awards nights and conference dinners.

Horizon
Crown Melbourne’s most exclusive event space, located on Level 29 of Crown Towers. Designed for high-end private dinners and corporate functions with sweeping city views.

River Room
Features a private balcony overlooking the Yarra River and Crown’s signature flame towers. Good for cocktail receptions and private dinners.

Promenade Room
Divides into three separate rooms for flexibility. Suited to multi-stream conferences and breakout events. Located within Crown Promenade.

M Rooms
Sixteen flexible function rooms with a pre-function foyer, catering for up to 150 guests per room. Ideal for breakout sessions, meetings and smaller functions.

Crown Melbourne’s Palladium hosts many of Australia’s most prestigious annual events, including the AFL Brownlow Medal and cricket’s Allan Border Medal. Event Photography at Crown Melbourne

Our team has photographed events across the Crown precinct for years, from full Palladium awards nights to intimate dinners in Horizon. A note for event planners: the Palladium’s production lighting is world class, but stage lighting designed for broadcast doesn’t automatically translate to great photos of your guests at their tables. We work with Crown’s in-house AV team on lighting cues so both the stage and the room are covered properly.

In The Area

Crown Melbourne sits in the Southbank entertainment precinct with Melbourne’s arts and cultural attractions on its doorstep. The Arts Centre Melbourne and the NGV (National Gallery of Victoria) are both a short walk along the river – good options for interstate delegates with time between sessions.

Flinders Street Station and Southern Cross Station are both within a 15-minute walk, connecting delegates to Melbourne’s broader transport network. For dining, the Crown precinct itself has over 40 restaurants and bars, and Southbank’s restaurant strip runs along the river just outside.
